lyrics

On the surface everything looks fine
Its what’s hidden that keeps them guessing all the time
Now she’s driving down the freeway her mind’s a mess
All he told her was nothing more and nothing less than

Arbitrary promises to tie her to his bed
She remembers the hunger for all the things he never said
It’s a classic story one that’s told nearly every night
Of how love can fall from the highest height

Black and white photographs scattered on the bed
She asked “where did our colour go?”
“We’re nothing but shadows” he said
Standing on the balcony gazing at the world below
All the lights all the screams all the pleasure gone unseen

The wind came and took the flower tucked behind her ear
It floated so gently down to the ground like a cursed tear
She didn't realise at the time it was a sign
Of how love would fall from the highest height

She’s pulling in the driveway now the windows to her house are dark
There’s a song playing on the radio it’s giving her a change of heart
She rests her head on the steering wheel, gives a little smile
For the words coming to her now she hadn’t heard in quite a while
Love keeps no secrets love plays no games
We’re the ones who manipulate it to our whims
We all have choices to make our heart may fall and it may break
But it could just soar again let it soar again let it soar to the highest height
